So-called spring
ephemerals, different kinds of violets, sprouts of various deciduous trees, and
on top of them, cherry blossom!!
This is for
showing you some photos I took during our exercising tour, very enjoyable in a
nice warm weather with nice 4 colleagues anxious to learn more about plants in
Mt. Takao region.
(We didn’t
actually “hunt” plants, of course, but did admire various plants as is the case
of “Momijigari”).
Stupa exceptionally
open today to celebrate the anniversary of Buddha.
Yoshino cherries
around the lower cable car station.
One of around 20
species of this genus growing in Japan. With its peculiar shape of flower, it’s
called in Western English speaking countries “Cobra Lily” or
“Jack-in-the-Pulpit”.
One of Anemone,
very common and often spreading wide along the bank of a stream. You can enjoy
this flower for a few more weeks.
A popular
raspberry with its nice taste to bear fruits in orange color in a month or so.
It’s named in
Japanese with a meaning of “Maple raspberry” by the shape of the leaf.
A violet with a
name of Takao.
I told my
colleagues how to identify different species of violets just ignoring my old
saying, “Violets are violets”.
Hill cherry along
the trail No.1
A kind of Oxalis.
First found this day that English term of oxalic acid was so named by this
plant.
Yoshino Cherry and
Oshima Cherry around the upper cable car station.
Cherry blossom at
a plateau called Icchoudaira, reachable by 40 mn walking from the summit.
